The intern will contribute to gene editing product development initiatives relevant to immune and stem cell engineering. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.Essential FunctionsProvide scientific experimental support related to gene editing product development initiativesBe involved with many aspects of product development initiative including experimental design and execution, project management, troubleshooting, performing data analysis, and creating standard operating procedures and reports.Learn and execute basic molecular biology, cell biology and mammalian cell culture techniques, including nucleic acid purification, transfection and gene expression analysisWork independently in a fast paced product development setting under stringent timelinesCollaborate with scientists and effectively communicate project results to diverse audiences.Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvementsSpecific tasks will be tailored to the interns experience level and abilitiesIntern will work under the close supervision of senior scientist and R&D managerSkills and AbilitiesAbility to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional teamWillingness to learn, be mentored, and improve based on feedback receivedDesire to contribute and improve design of new and existing productsExceptional customer focusDesire to teach other scientists about technology in area of expertiseAptitude for writing and presenting scientific contentOther competenciesIs tenacious, decisive, nimble and quickAnticipates needs and problems while creating solutionsInspires, motivates and collaborates with othersIs strategic, astute and forward-thinkingQualificationsTo be eligible for an internship, students must be enrolled in accredited bachelors, advanced degree or Master??s program as well as have at least 1 semester/quarter of classwork to complete after the internship (may also be starting an advanced degree program).Students with Master??s program in Molecular Biology or related Life Sciences discipline will be desirableBasic knowledge in molecular biology and cell biology. Previous hands on experience using gene editing tools, working with RNA, recombinant DNA designing, nucleic acid purification, mammalian cell culture and cell analysis is a plusWorking conditionsWorks in a laboratory environment. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties and lift up to 40 lbs.
