RCLCO s Institutional Advisory Services practice group builds upon our decades of experience and renowned expertise in applied real estate analysis to address the important and unique issues regarding real estate investing faced by institutional investors such as state pension plans, including: Developing strategies that maximize value throughout the cycle through the development and implementation of investment ideas, pacing plans, policies, and risk management systems. Providing high quality and forward-looking investment analyses, including review of buildings, separate accounts, and funds and programmatic joint ventures that will provide superior risk- adjusted investment returns. Develop and implement asset monitoring systems that identify and manage risk in existing portfolios on a timely basis to maximize value. Provide strategic thinking regarding investment analyses, portfolio construction, and management through presentations, articles, and custom work for clients. We are looking for a smart and ambitious professional with demonstrated analytical and management skills, and leadership and business development potential. The ideal candidate is looking to employ innovative analyses to add significant value to our growing advisory practice, to participate in building a team within an established consulting firm, and to grow into a future practice leader. Key responsibilities include: Work with senior officers to review potential investments on behalf of institutional investors (comprising over $50 billion in invested real estate equity) across multiple property types and locations, including the review of cash flow assumptions, pricing, fees, and development of spreadsheets including complex waterfall fee structures; Assist in the analysis of potential investments in operating companies, separate accounts, programmatic joint-venture structures, and funds; Work with senior officers to review and select potential managers by reviewing their track records, strategies, pipelines, financial and operating structures, and by assisting in manager interviews; Assist in portfolio analyses as compared to client objectives, including the development of portfolio allocation and pacing plans; Research and develop a long-term knowledge of industry trends and participants. Assist in the training and supervision of associate team members and interns; Assist senior officers with review of existing assets, including investment performance reporting, hold/sell analyses, budget reviews, restructuring analyses, and appraisal reviews; Provide conceptual and analytical support to develop intellectual property, knowledge banks, and methodological/analytical innovation in the investment advisory services practice group and assist in drafting positions or white papers, industry presentations, business development presentations, and third-party articles; Prepare reports and presentations to communicate key findings and recommendations to clients. Qualifications: 2-5 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate and/or finance positions involving investment underwriting and analysis, portfolio management, plan sponsor investing, or real estate investment consulting; Bachelor s or Master s degree in real estate, finance, business, or related fields; Detailed knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, including the development and analysis of cash flow forecasts, pricing metrics, and complex waterfall fee structures, using both Microsoft Excel and Argus DCF; Advanced spreadsheet skills in financial modeling and analysis, as well as knowledge of portfolio strategy, risk analysis, performance review, and investment theory; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Demonstrated leadership potential, excellent interpersonal skills, and a drive to succeed in his/her chosen profession; Passion for financial and economic analysis, ability to structure quantitative and qualitative problem-solving approaches, and attention to detail and accuracy; Professional demeanor and appearance, a self-starter, a good time manager, and team player.
